The Fairfax County Planning Commission on Nov. 13 endorsed a proposal to allow the Home Depot in Seven Corners to expand into vacant retail space next door.

At a public hearing on the proposal last week, attorney Andrew Painter of Walsh Collucci, representing Home Depot, said the expansion is necessary because have been complaints about the store using the parking lot for storage. He said it’s one of the busier Home Depots – attracting shoppers from a broad region – and also smaller than many others. The store also plans some interior remodeling.

The Mason District Land Use Committee and Bailey’s Crossroads Revitalization Corporation have already approved the project. It now goes to the Board of Supervisors for a final vote.
