Do you want trucks, recreational vehicles, and boats banned from residential streets in Mason District?

Mason Supervisor Penny Gross is gauging public interest in creating a large-area Community Parking District. If your neighborhood would support being part of a large-area CPD, let Gross know by sending an email to mason@fairfaxcounty.gov with “large-area CPD” in the subject line. Include your name, address, and community association or HOA.

CPD rules prohibit boats, RVs, trailers, vehicles weighing 12,000 pounds or more, vehicles with three or more axles, and vehicles transporting 16 or more people (except school buses) on public streets in residential areas. Owners of vehicles found to be in violation can be fined $75 and the vehicle can be towed.

Exceptions allow vehicles used by federal, state, or local public agencies to provide services; commercial vehicles discharging passengers, performing work, or providing services; and vehicles temporarily parked for up to 48 hours for the purposes of loading, unloading, or preparing for a trip.

A supervisor can initiate an application for a large-area CPD. To create a smaller CPD, residents have to go through a petition process.
