Public invited to a community forum on Seven Corners Oct. 7

Concerned about the future of Seven Corners? The Mason District Council of Community Associations invites all residents to a Community Forum to discuss plans for significant mixed-use redevelopment of Seven Corners, including thousands of new apartments.

The forum is Tuesday, Oct. 7, 7:30 p.m., at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School.

Panelists include John Thillman, co-chair of the Seven Corners Land Use and Transportation Task Force; Martin Faga, chair of a new special committee to consider redevelopment of the Sears site; JoAnne Fiebe, a planner with the Fairfax County Office Of Community Revitalization, Bernie Suchicital, a planner with the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning; Del. Kaye Kory; and school board member Sandy Evans.

Mason Supervisor Penny Gross and a representative from the Virginia Department of Transportation have been invited.

This meeting offers residents an opportunity to learn about the task force plan for revitalizing Seven Corners over the next 30 to 40 years and what it might mean for current residents. The plan calls for a new road system aimed at improving traffic flow, as well as a town center at the Willston Shopping Center, and more than 6,000 new market-rate and low-income housing units.
