Americana Drive in Annandale is a magnet for litter and discarded construction debris, but periodic cleanups help keep the trash from overwhelming the area between the road and the beltway sound wall.

The next cleanup is scheduled for Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 10 a.m.-noon.
Local residents and anyone who wants to get some fresh air and exercise while helping to make the community nicer is encouraged to volunteer. Sign up here.
The cleanup event is hosted by the Fairfax County Restoration Project and the Friends of AccotinkCreek.
