The Wakefield Farmers Market |
The county needs to find a new market manager for the Wakefield Farmers Market and is also seeking new vendors for all of its markets.
The market manager position is voluntary. The primary duties are opening and closing the market and serving as the face of the farmers market program to customers and vendors.
The market manager helps promote the market, answers customer questions, monitors safety, and helps resolve minor issues or report incidents. Volunteers should be outgoing, passionate about buying local, and enthusiastic about connecting community members with local farmers and producers. Applicants must agree to a three-month to one-year commitment.
The Wakefield market is open Wednesdays, 2-6 p.m., May-October, in Wakefield Park in Annandale.
For more information about the market manager opportunity, contact Hala Elbarmil, marketing and outreach coordinator for Fairfax County farmers markets, Hala.elbarmil@fairfaxcounty.gov.
The farmers market program is also seeking vendors for the 2020 season for its 10 markets across the county. The markets are strictly producer-only, meaning all farmers and producers may only sell what they raise on their farms or make from scratch. Vendors must be based within a 125-mile radius of Fairfax County.
Interested vendors should contact Julia Duepree, Julia.duepree@fairfaxcounty.gov, 703-642-0128.
