Boy Scout Nathan Reinoehl seeks volunteers for an Eagle Scout project to clean up Manassas Gap Railroad Park in Annandale on Sept. 21.

The park has ruins from the unfinished Manassas Gap Railroad. Many residents don’t know this park exists, so one of the goals of Nathan’s project is to get more recognition for it.

Manassas Gap Railroad Park is one of Annandale's hidden gems.
Manassas Gap Railroad Park is hidden away in a residential area. There are two entrances: a trail between 7536 and 7534 Royce Court and at the dead end on Woodland Road. Nathan asks volunteers to park on Hummer Road or across Hummer Road at Annandale Community Park.

Volunteers can come any time between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The cleanup will focus on litter and there will also be some brush clearing. Volunteers are advised to bring work gloves and garden clippers and wear long pants and long sleeves.

Nathan, 17, is a senior at Annandale High School and is in Troop 875, which meets at Sleepy Hollow Methodist Church.
