Annandale area hit hard by severe storm

A severe storm April 6 with strong wind and heavy rain uprooted trees across the Annandale/Mason District area, damaging buildings and closing roads.

A tree fell onto a garden apartment at Heritage Woods in the 4300 block of Americana Drive in Annandale at about 2:30 p.m., the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department reports. No one was injured. There were also reports of flooding, downed power lines, and power outages throughout the area.
