A man tried to rob the Exxon station at 7336 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, on March 29, but was rebuffed by the employees, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.
A man entered the business at about 7:35 a.m., displayed a knife, and demanded money. Two employees inside refused and a struggle took place. The victims were able to subdue the suspect and hold him until officers arrived.
Robert Hicks, 22, of Fairfax, was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, taken to the Adult Detention Center, and charged with attempted robbery. One of the victims was treated at the scene for a non-life-threatening injury sustained during the struggle.
In other crime news, a man walking by the Little River Turnpike/Medford Drive intersection was robbed at around 11 a.m. on March 30. He was approached by two men. One suspect displayed a knife and demanded money. The victim fled uninjured.
One suspect was described as black, approximately 13 to 16 years old, around 5 feet 5 inches tall, with shaved short black hair. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. The other suspect was black, over 5 feet 7 inches tall, and approximately 110 to 120 pounds. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
On the same day, at around 7 a.m., a man called the police to report a burglar in his apartment on the 4700 block of Americana Drive, Annandale. The man fled and later discovered the burglar had taken property. The suspect was described as Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and around 120 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket, dark pants, and a mask. The investigation is ongoing.
