The Rotary Club of Annandale invites the public to take part in the Stop Hunger Now event, a fun way to help the needy.

It’s April 16. 9 a.m.-noon., at the Annandale United Methodist Church, 6935 Columbia Pike. Participants will work in teams to fill plastic bags with dried food and vitamins that will be distributed to the needy across the world by the the Stop Hunger Now organization.

“It is an immensely fun, hands-on and rewarding experience for anyone of any age,” says Annandale Rotary Club President Bob Kahane. You don’t have to register; just show up and participate.

The Stop Hunger Now organization engages volunteers from corporations, schools, civic groups, and faith-based institutions in the effort to eradicate hunger. This year they will package 45 million meals and ship over $9 million in donated aid, mainly vitamins and medical supplies, to dozens of countries.

The Annandale and Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary clubs received grants from the Rotary district, and each club donated additional funds to purchase food and packaging materials.
