Swim school opening in Ravensworth Shopping Center

A new Kids First Swim Schools franchise is expected to open in the Ravensworth Shopping Center in Springfield Sept. 8.

Kids First bills itself as “the world’s largest provider of children’s swimming instruction.” The company uses its own copyrighted lesson plan focusing on a six-beat kick, says Chet Inhar, manager of the Kids First Swim School in Chantilly.

“Mommy and Me” classes, for children ages six months to 2 years, are $95. Group lessons – ranging from 3-year-olds to adults – are $110. Private one-on-one classes are $275. Classes are six weeks. There are also water aerobics, developmental training for proficient swimmers, and warm-water therapy. Kids First is open Monday through Friday 4-8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Another Kids First Swim School is expected to open in the Yorktown Shopping Center on Gallows Road by Route 50 in Falls Church in 2016. There are 25 Kids First locations in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.
