The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution June 2 to ban through-truck traffic on Ravensworth Road between Little River Turnpike and Braddock Road.

The resolution was proposed by Mason Supervisor Penny Gross in response to complaints from people who live close to Ravensworth Road about safety and noise.

Only one person spoke at the BoS public hearing. David Wagoner of the Royal Homeowners Association in Annandale urged the board to approve the truck ban. He said he lives 43 feet from the curb and trucks are so noisy they rattle items on the wall and he has to sleep with earplugs.

The BoS will ask the Virginia Department of Transportation to take the necessary steps to enact the ban. “They will take several months to review it. We anticipate they will approve the ban,” said Gross. Trucks will be directed to use the beltway as an alternative route.
