According to the most recent annual report on the NEPP program, for 2011, there were five funded projects in Mason that year—which is more than any other district. Those projects included:

- Edsall Park Swim Club—$4,500 for renovations.
- Broyhill Park Recreation Club—$4,000 to reclaim a wooded area and develop pathways.
- Mason District Little League—$2,500 to help promote youth baseball in communities that hadn’t participated before and work with the Bailey’s Crossroads Community Center to provide baseball clinics.
Potential applicants are encouraged to participate in one of two upcoming NEPP conferences: June 5 at the Pennino Building, 12011 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax; or June 10 at the South County Center, 8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria.
